I’ve said it before portrait sessions are all about being you and having fun - and this trash the dress session was very individual. Meet Becky. I met Becky at the Innovative Image Makers camera roadtrip. I was drawn to her because she was so much fun and willing to try any crazy pose. I think the collection below tells you a lot about Becky. She’s fun and daring and very much Becky. You were a blast to work with and I enjoyed spending the afternoon in Boulder with you.
A Trash the Dress photo session is about celebrating your wedding after the stress of the day is gone. You get to wear your dress again and relax and have fun. The result is some fun images that highlight who you are. The water fountain is optional.

I totally believe in education and networking. When Innovative Image Makers invited me to their camera roadtrip that combines education and networking I signed up. The roadtrip is a chance to meet other photographers and to experiment and have fun taking pictures. The models are regular people that donate their time. A few of my favorite images are below. Thank you for organizing this.

As promised in the last post more Folks Festival photos. Steve and I got to be concert photographers at the Folks Festival at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons. Here is a sampling of my favorite images from the weekend.
On Saturday The Waifs played. This is Donna taken from backstage. I loved how expressive she was with her arms. The show they put on was fun and full of energy. If you get a chance to see them you will have a great time.

Crowd and stage shots while The Waifs were performing.

2 more fun bands, Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers and Greg Brown You gotta love musicians with cool hats.

The headliners from Saturday and Sunday. Nanci Griffith and KT Tunstall.

The Folks Festival was an eclectic mix of music but an outstanding lineup. And the atmosphere could not be beat.

We just got done photographing the Folks Festival at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons. Brian, the marketing director at Planet Bluegrass, asked us to take pictures of the event. Mostly crowd and environment photos with a little of the concert. It was our first time being concert photographers. I’m loading the images now and making the back ups but I had to stop and post this photo. It rained quite a bit this weekend but any optimist knows after the rain the rainbows appear and on Saturday, wow, we got a spectacular show. A gorgeous rainbow painted the sky above Planet Bluegrass. Steve took this image from backstage while Greg Brown was performing. I just love the silhouette of the guitar player and the slightly stormy sky.

One more shot and a story. I enjoy taking pictures with my husband, really I do
We get a little competitive though - but it’s a good thing. Earlier in the day I took this photo of The Waifs performing. As usual Steve and I look over each other’s shoulders at our photos and show off our favorites. I proudly displayed this cool shot and I saw the little touch of competitiveness in Steve’s eyes. He even said “I like your shot better” which is a huge compliment
But competition is a good thing because it put the inspiration in him to create the cowboy and the rainbow shot which I like the best.
I’ll post some more photos from the Folks Festival later this week.

Julie and Joe were married at gorgeous Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch in Loveland, CO. Their wedding was full of vibrant color and fun. I was particularly taken by Julie’s spectacular dress with a cranberry train. The flowers were perfectly chosen to enhance Julie’s gorgeous gown. A white dove release by Emerald Green Doves ended a perfect ceremony.
Julie and Joe’s wedding was simply gorgeous. Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch has been voted “Best Place to Get Married” 3 years in a row by the Reporter Herald Readers’ Choice Awards and I can understand why. Was it the beautiful outdoor ceremony site over looking the heart shaped pond, Breathtaking Colorado Rockie views, the Big Thompson River, lots of beautiful photo spots, the Rustic Elegance of the Heritage Lodge with it’s lovely wrap around porch and fireplace or just the friendly staff. It’s a great place to host a wedding.
Congratulations Julie and Joe! Thank you for having me photograph your wedding.

Working in the wedding industry I get to meet some very talented vendors. In my travels I have gotten to know Maggie of Nobility Strings and she is a super lady. Not only is she a doll to work with but she is an extremely talented cello player. Last week Maggie asked me to take photos of the quartet for their website. The day was a hot one but the group was endearing and played and posed beautifully. Thank you for enduring a 104 degree day. Your music is beautiful and I look forward to working with you again soon. Enjoy the photos.
If you want to add a touch of class to your wedding or corporate event hire a string quartet. Live music is the easiest way to set the mood for an elegant event. And they don’t only play classical music but a wide variety of songs. Just look at the small sample of items on their play list - Broadway and Jazz , even some popular songs.
Support local talent and add a touch of class to your event.
