Image Retouching for Prints

Filed under: Retail Therapy, Wedding Planning — Jennifer @ 12:56

Photography has changed with the advent of digital cameras.

Well, photography hasn’t changed very much but how we process the images has…

With Digital Photography taking the photo isn’t the end it is the beginning of the digital workflow.

In the film days your lab worked with a negative in the dark room to ensure a great image for printing. Today photographers work in front a a computer to tweak the digital image for top notch printing. A professional photographer takes the time to finish an image before creating prints or albums. We use a program called photoshop to give all of our images a little TLC before printing. Since every image is different each photo is examined to determine the best steps to make the image shine.

Below is an example. The photo on the left is straight out of the camera - not a bad image. The photo on the right has gone through our digital workflow - color correction, exposure control, blemish removal, warm it up, sharpen. Notice how Connie’s skin is glowing and you can really see the gorgeous highlights in her hair. Her face is sharper and the sexy red couch and yellow walls in the background shine.  The goal isn’t to dramatically alter an image but to just tweak it a little to make it pop.

So when you order a print from us the photo has been given JSP’s extra special touch. Watch the blog for more examples.
