Where Do Birds Go When It Snows?

Filed under: Estes Park, Random Thoughts — Jennifer @ 20:59

I’ve aways been fascinated by animals.

One of the first books I remember reading as a child was titled “Where Do Birds Go When it Rains”. I don’t think the book ever answered the title question. What a trauma for a young girl. I remember being so concerned every time it rained (and I grew up in South Florida where you could set your watch by the summer thunder storms) and worrying about the little birds outside.

Being a Colorado girl now I am awed at the adaptability of animals. Forget the rain, I am amazed animals can survive the winter!

Steve and I went on a winter hike in Estes Park this weekend. It was snowing lightly and when we stopped for some hot tea a little bird popped out of the tree right above our heads. Seeing him up there reminded me of this childhood question. Whatever the weather the animals are out there surviving.

Below are the photos of Steve and I with our tea cups and our feathered friend.

  1. Jennifer we were snowshoeing in Estes this past weekend (Saturday) and I noticed that there were quite a few birds out. It must be tough for them to find food this time of year. I hope things are going well for you, talk to you soon.
